Sweet and Kind

On Friday our refrigerator was on the fritz so we had to call a repairman to come have a look. The good news is he was able to fix the problem without us having to buy a new refrigerator. While the repairman was working, Nature Girl grabbed a piece of paper and began drawing. She brought the picture over to give to the repairman then realized he was wearing glasses. She took the picture back and worked on it again before bringing it to the repairman. He was busy fixing the fridge and she felt shy so she left it for him on the floor next to his tools. In the end the repairman fixed the fridge and took the check but didn't take the drawing. I'm sure he didn't see what I saw. I saw a sweet little girl who wanted to do something kind for a stranger. She worked hard to make the picture just right so he would be happy with it. It was a gift. To me it was a sweet and kind thing for her to do and it made me proud! I didn't expect this middle age man to see a four year olds drawing as the gift she meant it to be so when he left the picture behind I quickly snapped it up and took a photo. Then I put it in the pile of pictures to save. This one was so sweet and kind it's certainly a keeper! So is Nature Girl!!!!

We're heading out tomorrow to go spend time with my mom and my grandmother in VT for a few days. My sister, her two boys, Nature Girl and I will pile into the car tomorrow morning for the two and a half hour trip. This will be Adventure Bunny's last adventure with us. She'll be heading to her new home next week. The trip is one of the last activities left on our summer fun list. Nature Girl is very excited about going and has been asking for two days if it's time to go see Mimi yet. Summer is flying by and I begin school in just two weeks! I'm trying to enjoy the last days of summer while I can.

What a cute drawing.
Perhaps the guy was embarrased about taking it. I remember a little boy who wsas in nursery ( kindergarten) with Gemma. He was dropped off and picked up everyday by a taxi as he lived too far away for the bus. At Valentines Day he made a card for the driver. It was so sweet and the driver was really embarrassed, but in a nice way.

Love and hugs Gina xxx

Great drawing! Enjoy your trip to see your Mum. I am currently waiting for a repairman (he is late!!)to come and fix my freezer - I wonder if he will be wearing glasses?

What an absolutely charming photo, and what a sweet, sweet Nature Girl to do that. Don't you absolutely cherish the moments when you see you daughter turning into the kind of human being you've always hoped she would become?

So glad your fridge broke BEFORE you left on vacation! Have a wonderful time on summer's final fling.

Nature Girl was very sweet to make a gift for the repairman and I think the drawing was very nice. Too bad the repairman missed the beauty in Nature Girl's gift.

What a sweet girl. I wish people would take a bit more time and appreciate the small things kids do for all of us. Wyatt likes to draw pictures and give them to the *nice Starbucks people* Maybe I go to Starbucks to much. He had one girl make a huge deal out of it. She ran around the store and showed it off to everyone then pinned it up on the wall. He was one proud boy.
Happy your fridge is better. Mine is on its way out.

Such a sweet picture. I'm sure he had no idea he was supposed to take it. My husband forgets to take things the kids hand him half the time. "Oh - was I supposed to take this picture you painted me to my office?" Such a sweet girl. Enjoy VT!

I'm with Susan: I got teary-eyed reading your post! I hope you’ll print out a copy and attach it to the drawing so you'll never forget how the picture came to be.

Nature Girl has such a kind heart. You should feel proud that you're nurturing that side of her, Jill. The world needs more gentle, sweet spirits.

Have fun with your family. Drive safely!
